Sligo Rags

The darlings of Disneyland's “Paradise Garden Bandstand,” this dynamic ensemble presents Celtic Folk (and so much more) with a decidedly bluegrass attitude. Named among the top acoustic bands in LA (by Folkworks Magazine) and two-time winners of the Orange County Music Award for Best Folk Band, Sligo Rags is taking the local and not-so-local Folk and Celtic music scenes by storm with a unique blend of eclectic musical influences. Dan Miller of Flatpicking Guitar Magazine says “These guys have it all--great vocals, lots of energy, captivating songs, well executed arrangements, and tasteful solos.” Their debut studio recording, "The Night Before the Morning After", was called "the best I've heard from a stateside band" by Celtic Beat Magazine, while their sophomore effort, “The Whiskey Never Lies,” (called “the best from the West Coast Celts in many years” by Shay Clark of the Irish American News), was named one of the top 10 of 2008 by Folkworks. Don‟t be surprised if elements of country, gypsy jazz, and swing manage to sneak their way into the act as well. Award-winning flatpicking and fingerstyle guitarist David Burns (recently featured in Flatpicking Guitar Magazine), fiddler extraordinaire Michael Kelly, world renowned bassist Eli Marcus, and percussion whiz-kid Jonathan Baer are guaranteed to fill the room and your lives with electricity. They may give you a good laugh or two along the way as well. " Bring friends. Dynamic, up tempo, multi-talented.—Bob Stane,

The Salty Suites

played their first show together in a high security prison for the criminally insane. They enjoy spending time with their cats, drinking whiskey and taking long walks on the
beach. Their music is heavily influenced by small woodland creatures and traveling encyclopedia salesmen. Lyrically their inspiration derives from fortune cookies and
grumpy cat memes. Don't miss this functionally dysfunctional band of hooligans.   Bob Stane says:  “in spite of the glowing review, above, you will love them.”
Scott Gates, Chuck Hailes and Chelsea Williams  live in the world of live acoustic music, sharing a passion for roots and bluegrass, as well as traditional mountain music.
Scott Gates is as close to a musical prodigy on the mandolin as you will ever meet.  Having performed all over the country and with artists as varied as John McEuen,
Nathan McEuen, Ed Helms, Steve Martin, the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Kenny Loggins and a virtual Who's-Who of bluegrass players, Scott appeared  on the Ellen Show
with Steve Martin, recorded with Kenny Loggins. , Chuck Hailes, is one of the top bass players in the country, schooled in classical and jazz bass playing and techniques.
With his  background in bluegrass music, and degree in the Upright Bass, Chuck sings and plays in a way that is uniquely his own. Chelsea Williams has performed
from her teen years. While some of her early songs are still hits with her fans, she has continued to develop as a writer penning nearly 100 original songs to date.
Chelsea currently makes her living by playing on the street for tips and selling thousands of CDs in recent months, one-by-one, simply on her own on the street.
Her magnetic presence draws them in and her songs set the hook. Together they are simply amazing and electrifying, The Salty Suites ask you to lend them your ears
and they won’t give them back in Fragments.
